Yes, Splice does offer a 14-day free trial. To start the trial, payment information is required, but if the trial is cancelled within 14 days, no charges will be applied. During the trial, users can browse, like, and preview samples on the Sounds platform, and use Bridge to preview any samples in their projects. They can also download any samples that cost 0 credits. Free samples are displayed on the Sounds homepage under Get The Free Packs. Once a subscription is started, the plan’s credits are unlocked and content that costs 1 or more credits can be downloaded. How can I get started with Splice?
To get started with Splice, first, create an account on the Splice website. After creating the account, start exploring Splice. With more than 2.4 million sounds and presets at your fingertips, getting familiar with Splice’s search is the best way to get you to the sound you want. The Splice search experience behaves similarly on the web as it does on the Splice Desktop app, so you can use either one to browse the catalog and discover sounds you love. If you know what kind of sound you’re looking for, you can start your Splice search by typing in the search bar. Alternatively, you can start by filtering by tags, such as instrument type, key, genre, or by loops and one-shots to make your search more specific. While searching, you can exclude filters to narrow down your search by removing sounds tagged with specific tags from the results. During your sound search, you can also take advantage of Splice’s Similar Sounds feature, which locates sounds with similar sonic characteristics to the one you have selected. This feature is great if you’re looking for similar alternatives. That said, it’s also a really useful creative tool—you can layer similar sounds together to create rich soundscapes and textures, which add contrast to your compositions. Use Create mode to start musical ideas quickly. All you need is a couple of minutes to create a Stack to start your track. There are two ways to create a Stack. For the first way, make sure you’re on the Sounds page, and then click on ‘Create.’ This lets you start from nothing, but you can pick a style / genre to choose the direction that best fits. From here, you can adjust your Stack in several ways, such as swapping out and adding new layers, adjusting volume, muting, soloing, changing the BPM, and changing the genre to flip the Stack into a different style.
What are the features of Splice's Creator+ plan?
The Creator+ plan of Splice includes all the features of the Creator plan, along with 500 monthly Sounds credits. This plan provides access to Splice's quality and ever-growing sample library and groundbreaking tools to help on the music production journey. It includes Splice Sounds (samples, presets, & MIDI), Bridge plugin, and desktop & mobile app experiences. The Creator+ plan also offers Skills tutorials by experts, Astra synth with presets, and Beatmaker plugin with presets. The monthly Sounds credits can be used to download sample packs, individual samples (including loops and one-shots), MIDI patterns, and presets for popular plugins. All samples are 1 credit while MIDI patterns and presets can cost up to 3 credits each. Splice plugins, like Bridge, Astra, and Beatmaker, are in VST3 and AU plugin format and will only work with any DAWs that support those formats. The plan can be cancelled at any time, and the subscription can be upgraded or downgraded anytime. If the subscription is cancelled during the trial, access to the trial will still be available for the full 14 days. When a paid plan is cancelled, access will be available until the next billing cycle but any unused credits will be lost once the billing cycle ends. The plan can be put on hold for up to two months if the credits accrued are not wished to be lost. When the subscription is upgraded, immediate access to any additional credits and features on the newly selected plan will be available. If the subscription is downgraded, the new plan will take effect on the next billing cycle. The new monthly credits will be available on the next billing cycle and will be added to the existing credit bank. The Creator+ plan costs $30 per month.
